White noise is a term used in acoustics to describe noise that is uniform across all frequency ranges. In the visual field, we are familiar with the white noise image that forms the basis of the work presented here. The image noise is analyzed and divided into different bright and dark areas, with the dark areas marked by small square cutouts. The resulting pattern is a random arrangement of lines, rectangles and squares cut out of the metal plate.

The work is mounted at a distance of 3 cm from the white wall.
This creates a subtle interplay of different shades of white between the white lacquered work and the white wall. The smaller the opening, the darker the wall behind it appears, while the wall appears much brighter in areas of larger openings.

An algorithm analyzes the white noise and creates a shape of rectangles according to the white noise pattern.

The calculated image is exported as a dxf file and cut with a CNC plasma cutter.
